The Ruins “El Meco” are one of the archaeological sites found in the city of Cancun.
Probably this site of the classic period was a small fishing town that was under the influence of the city Cobá, later with Chichen Itzá and soon after with Mayapan.
The Meco was one of the sites with a privileged location, since its at the foot of the beach; it developed like point of commerce with Isla Mujeres.
Being one of the most active ports in the Caribbean, it also had a commercial and ceremonial center.
